When was the moment that you realised you could actually do this? Very much so, when I first walked into the MasterChef studio and saw those cameras, my heart just sank and there was just this realisation of – oh my God Keri, what are you doing? I think I must have looked so scared! I love speaking in front of people and explaining why we do things in certain ways.ĭid it surprise you that you would e njoy those kinds of things being, as you say, quite a shy person?

I’ve recently been doing some live demos and I love doing them.

I was always behind the scenes and I never wanted to be out the front, or thought I was good enough to show anyone what to do. I’d always treated my cooking as just a job before. It’s given me a lot more confidence in how I project myself and in my self-belief because I always used to doubt myself and what I did. I’ve learnt an awful lot from being on that show and it’s made me into a different person. Now that you’ve had some time to look back on your experience of being joint winner of MasterChef: The Professionals, how would you sum it up? The Staff Canteen caught up with the 42-year-old chef to find out how it’s going… Keri quickly moved on to head up The Corner Restaurant and Champagne Bar at Selfridges in London before moving on to The Patch – a hyper-local eatery that is pioneering some radical new approaches to growing its own produce. After a long career cooking in restaurants, hotels and the catering industry, Keri shot to fame in 2012 as the joint winner of MasterChef: the Professionals where she wowed judges Michel Roux Jr and Gregg Wallace with her passion and technical ability. She originally worked with her old boss, Michel Roux Jr on the show, but when he left in 2014, Marcus Wareing took over.Keri Moss is the new Executive Chef at the The Patch pub in East Dulwich in London. Monica first joined the MasterChef gang in 2008 when she started appearing as a judge on MasterChef: The Professionals. How long has Monica Galetti been a judge on MasterChef? Monica was born on 26 August 1975, which makes her 44 years old. She stayed in London and now lives there with her husband and daughter, Anais. After getting a diploma in hospitality at the Central Institute of Technology, Upper Hutt, Monica moved to London in 1999 after getting a job at Michel Roux Jr's two-Michelin-starred restaurant Le Gavroche. Monica was born in Samoa, but moved to Wellington, New Zealand, when she was eight years old. We're going to tell you all about it in a bit. That's right - as well as being a TV star, she's got a restaurant called Mere in London, which she runs with her husband David Galetti. MasterChef will back on our screens soon, so we thought we'd do a deep dive into one of the franchise's biggest stars: chef and restaurant owner Monica Galetti.
